The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) releases the latest Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, on July 17. Employers will be able to use this revised version or continue using Form I-9 with a revision date of 11/14/16 N through Sept. 17.
On Sept. 18, 2017 employers must use the revised form with a revision date of 07/17/17 N. Employers must continue following existing storage and retention rules for any previously completed Form I-9. Visit I-9 Central to get more details about these upcoming changes.
USCIS has also updated M-274, Handbook for Employers, providing guidance for completing Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. This version dated July 2017 replaces the previous version.
USCIS also announced that it updated Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition and that starting 9/15/2017, they will only accept the 05/30/17 edition.
